According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), a mental illness is a medical condition that disrupts a person’s thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Serious mental illnesses include major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and borderline personality disorder.

At Y Worlds, we think that if you believe in the construct of mental illness, one major form of mental illness is usually missing. We would argue that HATE is a mental illness that not only harms the individual, but those who interact with the individual and those targeted.

SLANT presents HATE and Anger and Violence as normative. HATE and Anger and Violence pervade American culture. Humans are not pre-programmed for hate. Hate is a human invention, a human construct, created to label the blinding anger that leads irrevocably to self harm or societal harm, to explain the violence and motivation behind the violence.

A baby is not programmed for hate. The baby is programmed for learning, communication and attachment to its caregivers. The baby has to learn hate. The baby has to learn violence. Hate and violence are not inherited. They are manufactured by humans and learned by humans. They are not inevitable if we choose not to accept them as normative.

Our Y Person model suggests that we are all a construction of our genetics and biomaterials, our life experience, and how we consciously and subconsciously and corporally process everything. We all function within a vast multidimensional spectrum of flavors of thought, state, behavior and being. To make sense of the complexity of all this, to extract meaning from the overwhelming flow of information interacting with our senses and our processing, we believe we need a simple scaffolding that can be as robust and scalable as we need it to be.

Y Person- Hate

Nurture, Equality, Truth and Systems is our sensemaking. If you can’t love yourself and others, you do not achieve your potential and the future of others are stunted as well. If you are not an open and active learner, you do not achieve your potential and the future of others are stunted as well.

NETS- Hate

NETS- Hate

Our current debates about gun violence often become a battle between hate and love. Our current debates about marriage among people of the same gender often become a battle between hate and love. Our current debates about budgets and regulation often become a battle between hate and love.

Listen to the voices. Quietly listen. Objectively listen.
Every act of terrorism and murder is a battle where hate prevails.

It is not ok to hate. If you wish, you can call hate a mental illness. A label. A word. A SLANT. We prefer to cooperatively model and vitalize Nurture, Equality, Truth and Systems. When we see hate, when we experience it, we recognize it not for what it is, but what it is not.

Y Worlds. We place NETS around hate.
